WebJan 2, 2024 · Back story is that I'd run into a problem when trying to clone my aging HDD to my new SSD. Apparently there were some bad sectors in an initially non-critical area so Windows didn't trip over it (I could run Windows 10 with no problems). WebDec 1, 2016 · Well, after about 20 hours, a [boot drive]:\>chkdsk /r E: finally completed and the drive is no longer seen as RAW. Chkdsk found myriad errors of various kinds. I saved its output to a text file. I wasn't finding any online references to chkdsk use with HDs reported as RAW so I am somewhat surprised.

WebSounds like your drive is failing and needs replacing. I would try booting into the recovery environment or a live CD and use a USB drive to back up what data you can before it fails entirely or chkdsk potentially breaks any of the files. WebPosted by u/Mactwentynine - No votes and no comments
