The specific topics will include: Introduction, need of security. History. Substitution and monoalphabetic ciphers. Vigenere cipher, coincidence index. Webedge, the symmetries of platonic solids, modern cryptography, and/or a brief introduc-tion to Galois theory. A side goal of the course is to learn to write clear and correct math-ematical proofs.
