Pinned contact line
Webb21 juli 2024 · By using the theory of Taylor bubbles, the dynamic profile of the deposited liquid film is calculated within the lubrication approximation accounting for the finiteness of the film length, i.e. for the presence of the contact line. The latter is assumed to be pinned on a surface defect and thus immobile; the contact angle is allowed to vary. WebbGeneralizing our recent variational characterization of fluid sloshing with surface tension to the case of a pinned contact line, we derive the pinned-edge linear shallow sloshing problem, which is an eigenvalue problem for a generalized Sturm-Liouville system.

WebbIn the often encountered regimes of low contact angles, evaporation time of a (printed) droplet with pinned contact line can be expressed, following Popov [95], as (9.14) where is the pinned contact diameter, is the liquid density, its molecular weight and is the diffusion coefficient of the liquid vapor at a temperature T into the surrounding air. Webb2 dec. 2024 · ABSTRACT Effects of the Ohnesorge ( Oh) number and contact angle on the instability of a sessile rivulet are theoretically studied in this paper for both the pinned contact line (PCL) and moving contact line with invariant contact angle (MCL) conditions.

Webb9 sep. 2024 · The evaporation of the liquid droplet on a structured surface is numerically investigated using the lattice Boltzmann method. Simulations are carried out for different contact angles and pillar widths. From the simulation for the Cassie state, it is found that the evaporation starts in a pinned contact line mode. Then, when the droplet reaches the …
